What the built-in Dwell feature does
Apple documents Dwell as part of the Accessibility Keyboard workflow. After choosing a dwell action, you keep the pointer over the target for a configured duration; the selected action then occurs. Available actions include common mouse operations.
That can be useful when conventional mouse input is difficult. It should not be described simply as a gaming auto clicker or as a promise of a fixed number of clicks per second. Its configuration and intended interaction differ from a timer-based repeated-click app.
Where to explore the built-in controls
Open System Settings → Accessibility → Keyboard to explore Accessibility Keyboard and its Dwell options. Apple’s guide explains the toolbar and menu-bar controls. Exact labels and available options depend on the macOS version and hardware.
For other input methods, review Pointer Control in Accessibility. Choose settings based on how you want to operate the computer rather than enabling several features at once. Keep a clear way to pause the chosen control before testing it in everyday work.
Choose by the task, not by the label
If your task is selecting an item after hovering over it, start by investigating Dwell. If you want to issue a finite series of clicks separated by an interval, examine an app whose controls explicitly include that sequence.
For a repeat test, write down the mouse button, the number of repetitions and how you will stop it. A task requiring different buttons in a recorded sequence is a separate requirement; do not assume a simple repeater records macros.
Testing a dedicated repeat-click app
OP Auto Clicker - Fast Tapper provides interval, repeat and mouse-button controls. It needs the relevant macOS Accessibility permission to control other apps, and its free use is limited. The current App Store listing describes compatibility and purchases.
Start with a slow interval and a small repeat count on a harmless target. Confirm the result and the stop control before extending the sequence. If the built-in accessibility tools already satisfy your task, you may not need an additional app.
